The 360-degree production increased the capacity of venues by up to 25%, leading to attendance records at over 60 venues. To accommodate the time required to assemble and transport "The Claw" between tour dates, three separate stage structures were required on tour. Every date of the tour sold out, many within minutes of tickets going on sale. In an era of declining music sales, analysts expected U2 360° to be a major source of income for the band. U2 claimed that the tour would be "the first time a band has toured in stadiums with such a unique and original structure."
At 164 feet (50 m) tall, it was the largest stage ever constructed.
To accommodate the stage configuration, a large four-legged structure nicknamed "The Claw" was built above the stage, with the sound system and a cylindrical, expanding video screen on top of it. The concerts featured the band playing " in the round" on a circular stage, allowing the audience to surround them on all sides. Staged in support of the group's 2009 album No Line on the Horizon, the tour visited stadiums from 2009 through 2011. Meals, drinks, gratuities, and items of a personal nature are not included.The U2 360° Tour was a worldwide concert tour by rock band U2. Tour includes entrance fees to the Great Salt Lake Marina & Wendover Museum, transportation, and guide services. It is a different experience than driving, but some of the best photos are taken when there is shallow water. Instead we walk on the Salt Flats (we provide rubber boots). Note: If the salt flats are wet and we are not allowed to drive on them.
Normally, during the summer months the salt flats are dry and we can drive on the salt flats and explore. We will visit he recently completed museum and its exhibits about the WWII bomber training. Following lunch in Wendover we will visit the historic Wendover Airfield, the most complete of the WWII era airfields. After driving west for about an hour we will get our first views of the Salt Flats along the interstate. We will enjoy views of Salt Lake and learn a bit about this unique environment and the Birds and Animals that rely on it. Our first stop will be Great Salt Lake Marina State Park.
